Join Janet Dees, Steven and Lisa Munster Tananbaum Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art and Grace Deveney, Curatorial Assistant, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and Northwestern Ph.D. Candidate in Art History, for a conversation about renowned American artist, Carrie Mae Weemson view at the Block Museum through December 10, 2017.

Featuring Artist and Philanthropist Solomon Adufah, “This Image Is Not Available In Your Country” combats judgments and reflects on the diversity lost in the deceptive mainstream representation of Africa, exploring a self-referential perspective of the Black Image.

Saturday, September 30th, 11:30am - 12:30pm @ Hyde Park Art Center

Led by guides Erika Dudley and Patric McCoy, enjoy a bike tour around the Hyde Park and Kenwood neighborhoods, viewing public art of interest along the way. Refreshments at 11 a.m. with bike tour leaving promptly at 11:30 a.m. RSVP required.
